  • Maya is the mind or the veil of delusion

  • To sin is to suffer or to cause suffering

  • Thinking without awareness is the main dilemma of human existence

  • The truth, in any case, needs no defense

  • Emotion is the bodies response to a thought

  • Your sense of who you are determines what you perceive as your needs and what matters to you in life—and whatever matters to you will have the power to upset and disturb you

  • Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world

  • You cannot receive what you do not give

  • What can I give here; how can I be of service to this person, this situation

  • Both abundance and scarcity are inner states that manifest as your reality

  • Thinking isolates a situation or event and calls it good or bad, as if it had a separate existence. Through excessive reliance on thinking, reality becomes fragmented. This fragmentation is an illusion, but it seems very real while you are trapped in it. And yet the university is an invisible whole in which things are interconnected, in which nothing exists in isolation

  • Don’t mind what happens

  • Be in alignment with what happens

  • The most important relationship in your life is your relationship with the present moment. Welcome the present moment, be friendly towards it and life will become friendly toward you

  • The stronger the ego, the more time takes over your life. Almost every thought you think is concerned with past or future

  • What is my relationship with the present moment?

  • The joy of being, which is the only true happiness, can not come to you through any form, possession, achievement, person, or event

  • Be the valley of the universe and all things will come to you

  • This, too, will pass

  • Nonresistance, nonjudgement, and nonattachment are the three aspects of true freedom and enlightened living

  • Once you see and accept the transience of all things and the inevitability of change, you can enjoy the pleasures of the world while they last without fear of loss or anxiety about the future

  • You are present when what you are doing is not primarily a means to an end but fulfilling in itself, when there is joy and aliveness in what you do

  • Awareness implies you are not only conscious of things, but you are also conscious of being conscious

  • How do I respond to the needs of this situation, of this moment? You are still, alert, open to what is

  • Be aware of your breathing as often as you are able

  • Nothing happens that is not meant to happen. Nothing happens that is not part of the greater whole and it’s purpose

  • If you are not in the state of either acceptance, enjoyment, or enthusiasm, look closely and you will find that you are creating suffering for yourself and others

  • Whatever you cannot enjoy doing, you can at least accept that this is what you have to do

  • Acceptance means: for now, this is what this situation, this moment, requires me to do, and so I do it willingly

  • If you can neither enjoy or bring acceptance to what you do—stop. Otherwise, you are not taking responsibility for the only thing you can really take responsibility for, which also happens to be one thing that really matters: your state of consciousness. And if you are not taking responsibility for your state of consciousness, you are not taking responsibility for life

  • Instead of seeing yourself as a famous actor and writing and so on, see yourself inspiring countless people with your work and enriching their lives
